Legendary Australian Formula One driver Jack Brabham, world champion in 1959, 1960 and 1966, has died at the age of 89. Brabham competed in 126 Formula One races between 1955 and 1970, winning fourteen times.
Jack Brabham began making his mark at the highest level in 1955 when he went to Europe. He revolutionised motor racing, building his own cars and moving the engine from the front to the rear.
He won the first of his three titles in 1959, although he ran out of fuel with 100 metres to go in the final race. He then had to push the car across the finish line with his hands.
