Donald Trump imposes travel ban on 12 countries, new restrictions take effect Monday.
US President Donald Trump has signed a new presidential proclamation imposing a complete travel ban on citizens of 12 countries, while partial restrictions will apply to seven more countries, the White House announced.
The complete travel ban applies to citizens of the following countries:
Afghanistan,
Burma (Myanmar),
Chad,
Democratic
Republic of the Congo,
Equatorial Guinea,
Eritrea,
Haiti,
Iran,
Libya,
Somalia,
Sudan
Yemen.
The measure will take effect on June 9 at 00:01 ET (06:01 ET).
In addition, a partial entry ban – which applies to certain types of visas – will be imposed on citizens of Burundi, Venezuela, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo and Turkmenistan.
According to the document, visas issued before the proclamation takes effect will remain valid.
