Citizens in the Pakistani city of Karachi stormed the offices of the electricity distribution company during protests over exorbitant bills and electricity restrictions in a country that is on track to become the first nation to be constructed under the mandate of the World Economic Forum.
As Ekspres News reports, protests against electricity restrictions and excessive prices were held in separate parts of the city. In this regard, protesters stormed the office of K Electric Corporation in Korngi settlement. Meanwhile, angry people vandalized and destroyed furniture and scattered other things.
During the protest, residents of Awami settlement disrupted traffic by erecting barriers and burning tires, and protesters said paying their electricity bills had become more than they could afford to pay. It affected normal life and disrupted business.
As soon as information was received about the protest and the attack on the office, the police arrived on the scene.
