Compare and merge text files
WinMerge is a visual text comparison application, that allows you to see the highlighted differences between 2 text based files. It is in particular useful for comparing source codes, and offers optional support for Visual SourceSafe syntax highlighting, customizable highlight colors and more.
WinMerge allows you to go through all found differences and then merge each instance by either replacing them on the right or the left side.

I like how it can compare files based on content. There are lots of times where files have different date stamps, but they're actually the same file, so synchronization is not needed. WinMerge is one of those programs that every computer should have.
Oh I like this one! When doing HTML,CSS, or creating my key files, lists, whatever it be.. I get tired of searching through to see what's different, if I added something, etc... and this is the tool to take care of that! Simply compares differences in the files, highlights and off you go. My wife is doing some database work and the person prior screwed up all files, which is why she's doing this for them, but she used this to compare the files and cut her work time in half. Awesome!
This is a great utility for developers that highlights any differences between one text file and another. It works with any text file - XML, HTML, source files, config files. It compares not just visible characters but whitespace as well. It's much quicker and easier than SourceSafe, and so easy to use when you turn on shell integration - just select two files in Explorer, right click and choose Compare and Winmerge compares them.
